DOUG DREW, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, NEWS DIVISION

Doug Drew specializes in television news producing, writing and reporting. He brings years of extensive producing and news management experience to 602 Communications. A 25-year career in some of the country's top newsrooms was spent as a News Director, Executive Producer, Assignment Editor, Anchor and Reporter.

Doug is an expert in understanding how viewers watch television. His insights into viewer attitudes make him a much requested speaker for RTNDA and Promax conferences.

Having helped launch one of the most successful morning shows in the country at KTVK-TV (Phoenix, Arizona), Doug is now considered a specialist in morning television news. While at KTVK, he was part of the management team helped that station transition the station from an ABC station into one of the most successful independent stations in the country by using storytelling techniques that are still considered new trends in the industry.

He graduated from the Ohio University School of Telecommunications with a Radio-Television degree. After his 20 years working in the television newsrooms, Doug joined McHugh & Hoffman, a full-service news research and consulting firm. As senior consultant, Doug presented workshops for stations throughout the country in producing and storytelling.

Doug then joined C3: Convergent Communications Consultants as Vice-President, where he supervised television news research projects and focus groups in addition to continuing his successful workshops in writing and producing. Doug has experience internationally, having helped re-launch and re-brand a television network in Istanbul, Turkey. In addition, he was part of the team that helped launch the Middle East Television Network, a Washington DC based satellite news channel. He has also done workshops for CNN in London, for Network Ten in Australia, and for CTV in Canada.

Doug lives in San Diego, California.
